ABOUT SCAJ 2025
A Global Coffee Gathering in Tokyo.
SCAJ is one of Japan’s largest specialty coffee events, bringing together producers, importers, roasters, baristas and industry professionals from around the world.
Held at Tokyo Big Sight from September 24 to 27, 2025, the event gave visitors the opportunity to discover Indonesian coffee under our theme, “Beyond Specialty.”
STORIES BEYOND QUALITY
From Sumatra and Java to Sulawesi, Bali, Flores and Papua, each region offers its own climate, soil, varieties and processing traditions.
“Beyond Specialty” looks beyond quality scores to reveal the land, people and culture behind every bean—offering a deeper experience of Indonesian coffee.
FROM COFFEE TO CACAO
At SCAJ 2025, we presented Indonesian cacao and chocolate alongside coffee, marking a new step in the development of House of Beans.
We also exchanged ideas with Japanese roasters, cafés, importers and buyers, exploring new opportunities for Indonesian products in Japan.
THE ROLE OF “HOUSE OF BEANS”
Together with Bank Indonesia and other partner institutions, House of Beans connects Indonesian producers with the Japanese market through product introductions, tastings and business matching.
The feedback gathered through these encounters supports quality improvement, product development and lasting partnerships between Indonesia and Japan.
